Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread cubes (about 1 loaf)
  • 1 cup diced fresh apples (Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 cup chopped sweet onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and celery; sauté until soft (about 5 minutes).
  3. Stir in diced apples, sage, salt, and pepper; cook for another 3-4 minutes until apples are slightly softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sautéed mixture with stale bread cubes; mix well.
  5. Gradually pour chicken broth over the bread mixture, ensuring it is evenly moistened but not soggy.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
