Scale
- 1 Ribeye or New York Strip Steak (about 1 inch thick)
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt
- ½ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 2 Garlic Cloves, crushed
- 2 sprigs Fresh Thyme or Rosemary

- Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.
- Add 1 tablespoon of high-smoke point oil to the skillet and swirl to coat.
- Place the seasoned steak in the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes without moving it.
- Flip the steak, then add butter, garlic, and herbs to one side of the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter mixture for added flavor.
- Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare (130°F). Adjust cooking time based on desired doneness.
- Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to retain juices.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, consider using a cast-iron skillet.
- Adjust the cooking times based on the thickness of the steak and desired doneness.
