Description
Delicious crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and spicy honey glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 2 tbsp Hot sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 cup All-purpose flour (can be substituted with gluten-free flour)
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- to taste Salt and pepper (season generously)
- 1/2 cup Honey (opt for raw honey)
- 1 tbsp Red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice level)
Instructions
- Start by cleaning and deveining your shrimp, ensuring they’re dry. Pat them gently with paper towels for that perfect crispy texture when fried.
- In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and your favorite spices. Whisk until smooth; this should be thick enough to coat the shrimp well without dripping off.
- In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F. You can test it by dropping a small amount of batter in—if it sizzles immediately, you’re ready to fry!
- Dip each shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. This creates a delightful crunch once fried—keep them all coated evenly!
- Carefully place the battered shrimp in the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, mix honey with red pepper flakes and a splash of vinegar. Stir until warmed through; it should be slightly runny but sticky.
- Once fried, transfer the shrimp to a bowl and pour the hot honey glaze over them. Toss gently until every bite is beautifully coated.
Notes
- For an extra kick, adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to suit your taste.
- Serve with a side of your favorite dipping sauce.
