Description
A delicious dish featuring crispy shrimp tossed in a sweet and creamy sauce, complemented by caramelized walnuts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Salt to taste
- Green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the walnuts and toast until golden brown. Add a bit of water and sugar to caramelize them. Stir until they are coated and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the shrimp and cornstarch, ensuring each piece is fully coated. This will help achieve a crispy texture.
- In a large frying pan or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, honey, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, gently toss the fried shrimp with the sauce until evenly coated.
- Fold in the caramelized walnuts until well mixed with the shrimp.
- Transfer the Honey Walnut Shrimp to a serving platter, garnishing with chopped green onions for extra flair.
- Enjoy while hot as the flavors are best when fresh.
Notes
- This dish is best served immediately while the shrimp are still crispy.
- Prepare the caramelized walnuts in advance for quick assembly.
