Description

A delicious dish featuring crispy shrimp tossed in a sweet and creamy sauce, complemented by caramelized walnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the walnuts and toast until golden brown. Add a bit of water and sugar to caramelize them. Stir until they are coated and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the shrimp and cornstarch, ensuring each piece is fully coated. This will help achieve a crispy texture.
  3. In a large frying pan or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  4. Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, honey, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, gently toss the fried shrimp with the sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Fold in the caramelized walnuts until well mixed with the shrimp.
  8. Transfer the Honey Walnut Shrimp to a serving platter, garnishing with chopped green onions for extra flair.
  9. Enjoy while hot as the flavors are best when fresh.

Notes

  • This dish is best served immediately while the shrimp are still crispy.
  • Prepare the caramelized walnuts in advance for quick assembly.
