Description

A comforting cheesy baked dish featuring ground beef and rice, topped with melted cheese and green onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (halal, of course!)
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter option)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella work well)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to taste sliced green onions
  • to taste extra cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add diced onions to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onions with the uncooked rice, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Generously sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Once it’s out of the oven, let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Top with sliced green onions if desired.
