Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- In another bowl, mix sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, food coloring, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients; mix until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for ten minutes before transferring to racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy; gradually add powdered sugar until desired sweetness is reached.
- Level the cooled cake layers and frost between layers and on top and sides of the cake.
